My designs change the way people feel about themselves.
I do not mass-produce.
I do not design for a universal size.
I design for the individual.
I don’t copy. I’m not influenced by magazines or the clothes in them. I design and work individually with people.
Everyone is different. I see this and design for it. Our bodies aren’t symmetrical. Sometimes I alter patterns to fit a wonky shoulder, swey back or odd boob.
We’re not perfect but the design is perfect to fit that person.
My clients are my muse.
My sample rack is my inspiration.
With years of practical experience in designing and making clothes, I design garments built to last. When I visualize a design, I work passionately to find the best way to bring it to life.
For me, it’s real hands-on work. From the design, to the pattern-making, to the cutting, and the finishing. I’ve designed and made clothes for a 13 year old and a 80 year old. From a corporate wardrobe to an intimate family wedding.
Each client has an individually created pattern based on their particular needs and measurements. Once one garment is made, clients can then use this original pattern as a base for multiple designs or a winter version of a summer pattern. Changing fabrics, adding sleeves and altering the length.
One or two calico samples are made and fitted to the client before the final garment is sewn and finished to ensure it fits perfectly.
For my designs its all about how you feel. When you feel good about yourself, you can be comfortable with who you are, no matter what setting, event or occasion. And that is what wearing Jody Kahlon is all about.
Most of us are not used to seeing our shape, well-fitted. Clothes are bought off the rack and aren’t designed for our unique body shape. Because your garment is hand-made I use typical foundations such as fusing, lining, support and structure. This is different to ‘off the rack’ garments that use elastine in their fabrics to accommodate different shapes. Over time, this elastine deteriorates and the garment loses structure.
Jody Kahlon garments are made from quality fabrics, lined and made to last.
